April 10th - 12th Paris Chronicles
So the games continue and today is April 12th and I’ve found some time to reflect and write about the last two days before heading off to Zermatt, Switzerland. My birthday, April 10th was a quiet day. I woke up and listened to a bit of the Joe Budden podcast and then we walked to the Gare de Lyon to get prepared for our trip to Switzerland. We found Paris train stations to be confusing and like to figure things out prior tot he travel day. We were surprised that it was a little less crazy than Gare du Nord. We talked to a few agents to figure out the halls and where we could expect the trains. After that I went into a pharmacy to buy some skin care products within the station. After we went to Affranchis and had a nice late lunch. I ate an Asian styled chicken wok with noodles, had a glass of Champaign and expresso with tiramisu. We went home to rest and then went back to Supersonic to see the Clockworks and Irish punk band. They were amazing and was a great way to spend my day. The next day. On April 11th, we had breakfast at home and then walked 5 miles to Musee L’Orangerie we stopped along the way to pick up croissants and got to the museum half hour early. We saw Monet’s Nymphs collection along with the collection of Claude Guillame that included Picasso, Monet, Rousseau and others. It was a much smaller museum than expected. After an hour, we walked through the gardens shared by the Louvre and made our way back home. We stopped back at our Irish restaurant in the Bastille, O’Sullivans where my husband got his great chicken dish and I got a great pasta primavera dish. I drank an Aperoll spritz and then we made our way home to rest. We got some zzs after picking up some additional groceries. That night we went to Le Popup du Label and saw Francis of Delirium a band out of Bruges. They were a different vibe but it was great non the less- after the show we went scrambling for food and found some pizza on rue Daumesnil that was mid but beggars can’t be choosers with many kitchens losing. We ate and made our way home. Today, April 12th was quite, we woke up late as usual then went to lunch. I selected the restaurant because my husband was complaining about needing more veggies. We ended up at Les Artists Grounands on Rue de la Roquette and had the best food and experience with the owner. We learned so much about his life and work as an artist. This experience has been common our meeting new people and their sharing their experiences with us. Earlier in the week we met Andre de Chicago who was an American musician that ended us staying in Paris after the pandemic… he heard us talking about blues and stopped us and we just chatted for ever and he invited us out to see some music… very cool. After eating we went to pick up some shoes for me and baby clothes for family as gifts. Tonight I write this around 6:30pm getting ready for our last night seeing music going to La Java to see som Le hard post punk music from London, Cincinnati and Paris. We will need to make our 7am train to Switzerland. More to come.
