African history month
Let's see if I can remember what I wrote... As African history month comes to an end, I'm going to start a new book, Ghana Must Go. I also listened to a Google hangout with Gina Paige from African Ancestry about learning more about our place of origin... I've never had a desire to pinpoint my exact origin. I imagine it might be a result of my West Indian / Haitian ancestry. I always felt I knew where I came from but I imagine this also adds a layer of otherness for people who don't want to identify. To seem more exotic? Now trying to remember the connections I made to my last post.
I know I made a connection to Camus and Mr Mersault's indifference and disconnection... I know I need to unpack my rational for 40 to 40.
It's all coming back now... In the outsider mr. Mersault did not belong nor felt the need to fit into society's need for us to conform into neat categories. Mersault' died trying to preserve his beliefs or lack there of. He could not be swayed even when faced with death. However, I realized I'm the complete opposite. I started the journey of 40-2-40 to fit into this place and to find more in common with those around.
I hope to further unpack my motivations as I journey through life.
