A note from the hubby

No transparency... Yet over a trillion dollars spent...hundreds of billions of tax dollars spent in Afghanistan on "reconstruction" that never occurred and has never been documented - Yet there is no outcry from leaders about this tremendous waste but instead a cynical call to "support the troops" and another reflexive predictable vote to further increase war funding.  Of course, were someone  to humanely call for billions of dollars to reconstruct many of our poor communities long ignored   and aggressively targeted for policing, that person would be attacked and dismissed not based on the idea's intrinsic merit, but on the classes of people it serves and benefits - people the establishment elite despise, ridicule, patronize, ignore or oppress by using their privileged positions to consolidate a status quo.  A status quo that institutionalizes poverty and constructs a criminal justice system as the blunt instrument to punish poor people who rebel - whether they rebel rationally and reflectively as Malcolm x, the black panthers and the "black lives matter protesters" or rebel viscerally and impulsively as hustlers or gang members.
